Swing Bed Program in Bellville, Texas

The Swing Bed Program provides temporary care for patients recovering from an accident, illness, or surgery with skilled nursing and rehabilitation services.

What Is A Swing Bed Service?


Swing bed services at MidCoast Medical Center – Bellville include, but are not limited to:

  • One-on-one physical, occupational, and speech therapy for residents of Austin county and surrounding areas.
  • Rehabilitation services for stroke recovery
  • Hip replacement rehab
  • Joint replacement rehab
  • Skilled nursing care following a hospital stay
  • IV therapy or medications requiring monitoring by professional staff
  • Strengthening and recuperation for pneumonia, stroke and other debilitating illnesses

Admission Criteria for Swing Beds


  • Three-day (consecutive) acute level of care stay within the past 30 days
  • Physician referral for necessary daily skilled service related to hospitalization

We Accept Patient Transfers from Other Texas Hospitals


If your condition has stabilized, but you are not ready to go home yet, you may be eligible for the Swing Bed program at MidCoast Medical Center in Bellville, TX.

Whether your doctor is local or out of town, ask your doctor for orders to have your rehab done at MidCoast Medical Center – Bellville. Your physician will issue you orders for rehabilitation/skilled nursing care.

How Swing Bed Services Are Paid For


Swing Bed services are reimbursed by Medicare, Medicare Advantage Plans, private pay and some private insurance plans.

Medicare typically covers 100% of the covered cost for the first 20 days. Medicare will then pay 80% of the covered cost for the next 80 days. The remaining 20% is due from the patient or supplemental insurance.
